PAYING FOR SENIOR CARE

Questions to ask about cost

  • Ask for the complete monthly price, including care-level charges and one-time fees.
  • Find out what happens to the price if care needs increase.
  • Ask whether long-term-care insurance benefits are accepted.
  • Medicare generally does not pay for long-term room and board; ask what medical or short-term services may qualify.
  • Mississippi Medicaid eligibility and covered services depend on the person’s circumstances. Confirm coverage before making a decision.
  • Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for benefits; contact an accredited veterans service representative.
